Additional information for becoming a Home Inspector in South Carolina

To secure your home inspector license in North Carolina, you must complete the following steps:
 
  1. Applicant must be 18 years or older.
  2.  
  3. Applicant must possess either a High School Diploma or GED.
  4.  
  5. Applicant must complete 80 hours of home inspection education via a course approved by the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission.

  7. Applicant must complete the following exams:

    1. Either the National Home Inspector Exam, OR an approved home inspector exam specifically designed for South Carolina.
    2.  
    3. The South Carolina Residential Business Management and Law Exam.
  9. Applicant must pass background check.
  10.  
  11. Applicant must provide social security card and driver’s license.
  12.  
  13. Applicant must provide notarized application and pay the initial $80 application fee.
