Additional information for becoming a Home Inspector in New York
To secure your home inspector license in New York, you must complete the following steps:
- Applicant must possess either a High School Diploma or GED.
- Applicant must complete 80 hours of state-approved classroom training.
- As part of the 140 hours of education, the applicant must complete 40 hours of field training.
- Applicant must complete and pass one of the following exams:
- National Home Inspector Exam
- New York State Home Inspector License Examination
- Applicant must possess General Liability insurance for a minimum of $150,000 per occurrence and
$500,000 aggregate
- Applicant must submit their application with the initial $250 inspector fee.
- As part of the 140 hours of education, the applicant must complete 40 hours of field training.
- National Home Inspector Exam
- New York State Home Inspector License Examination
