42 hours of Continuing Education are required every 3 years to keep your license up to date in the state of Ohio. This breaks down to 14 hours per year.

Additional information for becoming a Home Inspector in Ohio

To secure your home inspector license in Ohio, you must complete the following steps:
  1. Applicant must be 18 years or older.
  2.  
  3. Applicant must possess either a High School Diploma or GED.
  4.  
  5. Applicant must complete at least 80 hours of approved home inspector qualifying education.
  6.  
  7. Applicant must complete 10 parallel inspections with an Ohio licensed home inspector OR complete a curriculum of experience and a peer review.
  8.  
  9. Applicant must successfully complete the National Home Inspector Examination within 2 years prior to applying for an Ohio home inspector license.
  10.  
  11. Applicant must obtain General Liability insurance. At least $100,000 per occurrence and at least $300,000 aggregate limit.
  12.  
  13. Applicant must complete two background checks. One for criminal matters occurring in Ohio and another for criminal matters occurring nationwide.
  14.  
  15. Applicant must submit their application and pay the initial $250 application fee.
