INSTRUCTORS RESPONSE:
Not every observable issue is of grave concern when performing a sewer camera inspection. Some conditions simply need to be noted and monitored with proper education of the client based on the specific waste system. The key is understanding when to prioritize conditions that justify further investigation by the client in order to protect the equity of their investment.
Functionality – There are observable conditions on the sewer camera that are hampering or restricting the proper function of the main laterals on the day of the inspection.
Repair – An inspector is required by most standards of practice to recommend repairs when components are system are not functioning properly. In obvious instances, it is not necessary to suggest further evaluation, rather to simply advised repairs by a licensed plumber.
Repair Cost – Recommending further evaluation may be necessary by a licensed plumber to determine the approximate cost of needed repairs.
Limited Access – If conditions exist that restrict the inspector’s ability to access or traverse a significant portion of the main laterals. Also, if there is visual and performance evidence during the home inspection that suggests there may be a deficiency on a particular branch line that is not observable on the sewer camera inspection of the main lateral lines.
